Privacy Policy
This privacy policy explains what the World Wonderer app (the "App") collects and why. It applies to the App on Android, iPhone and iPad, and to the iPhone and iPad version running on a Mac with Apple silicon. The App is made by Sakke Wiik ("we", "us"), who is responsible for the data described here. You can reach us at worldwonderer@sakke.io.
In short: the App has no accounts, no ads and no advertising tracking. Your progress stays on your device. We collect usage statistics and crash reports so we can improve the App and fix problems. They are linked to a random identifier for your installation, not to your name or an account.
Information stored on your device
Your game progress, statistics, achievements, streaks and settings are stored only on your device. The App's own Analytics and Stats screens are built from this data on your device; they are not the usage statistics described below, and we cannot see them.
Uninstalling the App deletes this data from your device. On Android, the App is excluded from device backups. On iPhone, iPad and Mac, backups you make to iCloud or a computer may include it until you delete those backups.
Streak reminders are scheduled on your device. No notification server is involved.
Information we collect
Usage statistics. We use Google Analytics for Firebase to learn how the App is used, for example which game modes are played, when a game starts and ends, how many answers were correct, and which settings are changed. These are individual events sent while you play, not a copy of your saved progress or statistics. Analytics also records technical details: device model, operating system and App version, language, approximate location (country, region or city) estimated from your IP address, and a random identifier created for the App installation. It lets us tell that events came from the same installation, but it is not linked to your name or an account, and it changes if you reinstall the App.
Crash reports. We use Firebase Crashlytics to receive reports when the App crashes or runs into an error. A report contains technical details about the error and the device state when it happened (such as device model, operating system, App version and available memory), together with recent log messages and in-app events from just before the error, and a random installation identifier.
App configuration. The App uses Firebase Remote Config to check, for example, whether an update is required. This sends a random installation identifier to Firebase.
We do not collect your name, email address, contacts, photos, precise location or any other personal content. Text you type in the App, such as searches, is not sent anywhere.
Advertising
The App shows no ads. It does not use the advertising ID on Android or on iOS, does not track you across other apps or websites, and does not use your data for ad personalization. We do not sell or share your data for advertising.
Purchases
If the App offers in-app purchases, they are processed by Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play) under their own terms and privacy policies. We do not receive your payment details.
Who receives the data
The usage statistics, crash reports and configuration requests described above are processed by Google as our service provider. Google may process them on servers outside your country. See Privacy and Security in Firebase and Google's Privacy Policy.
We do not share the data with anyone else, except where the law requires it.
Why we process the data
We process usage statistics and crash reports on the basis of our legitimate interest in keeping the App working and improving it. The data is linked only to random installation identifiers, not to names or accounts, and we keep it to what is needed for those purposes.
How long we keep it
Usage statistics linked to an installation identifier are deleted from Google Analytics no later than 14 months after that installation last used the App. Aggregated reports that no longer identify any installation, such as daily user totals, may be kept longer. Crash reports are kept for 90 days. Emails you send us are kept for as long as needed to answer them.
Children
World Wonderer is a geography learning game for everyone, including children. The App does not ask anyone for personal information or their age, and has no accounts, chat, ads or links to social media. It does not use the advertising ID, and its analytics are set up so that data is not used for advertising or ad personalization. The only data it sends is the usage statistics, crash reports and configuration requests described above. They are linked to random installation identifiers rather than to a name or account, and are used solely to run and improve the App.
We do not knowingly collect any other information from children. If you are a parent or guardian and have questions, or want us to delete information about your child, contact us at worldwonderer@sakke.io.
Your choices and rights
You can turn off usage statistics at any time in the App's Settings, under Privacy. From then on the App sends no usage statistics from your installation; you can turn them back on in the same place. Crash reports are still sent, because we need them to keep the App working. Uninstalling the App stops all further collection. Neither deletes statistics and crash reports already sent; those are deleted as described under "How long we keep it".
If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, you have the right to access, correct or delete data about you, to restrict its processing, and to object to processing based on our legitimate interest. You can also complain to the data protection authority where you live or work. Similar rights may apply elsewhere. To object to usage statistics, you can simply turn them off in Settings. To use any of the other rights, email us.
Because the App has no accounts, we usually cannot tell which data belongs to you, and we will not ask you for extra personal information just to find it. If you contact us, we will help as far as we can.
Contacting us
If you email us, we receive your email address and what you write, and use them only to reply to you.
